What are dentures?

Dentures are replacements for your natural teeth that you can remove whenever you want to. An affordable solution for missing teeth, they help improve your smile, make you look younger and help you enjoy your favourite foods as you used to.

You can get two types of dentures.

  • Partial dentures replace one or more teeth
  • Full dentures replace your entire set of teeth on your upper jaw, lower jaw or both

At Casa Dental, our high-quality dentures are made from acrylic or cobalt chrome. These are kept in place using clasps or by using natural suction. Occasionally, we will recommend a denture fixative to ensure they stay in place.

Your dentures will be designed by your dentist or dental technician and based on the unique measurements of your mouth. If you’d prefer a permanent solution, ask us about dental implants.

What happens when you are fitted for dentures?

Here at Casa Dental, we want to ensure that your dentures are comfortable, look fantastic and allow you to eat as normal. That’s why we will fit your dentures in several stages.

Your consultation appointment

We first ask you to come for an initial consultation when you are thinking about getting dentures. Your dentist will thoroughly examine your mouth and assess your needs to ensure you are suitable for dentures then explain the procedure. When you are happy, we’ll create a treatment plan and you can make your first appointment.

Your first appointment

We’ll take impressions of your mouth then send them to our lab technicians. They will use these to create a specially designed tray and a wax bite block that allow us to take even more accurate impressions and ensure the perfect fit.

Your second appointment

We’ll use these specially designed trays and wax blocks to record your natural gum shape and how your teeth bite together. We’ll also record the exact shade of your teeth so we can create your ideal dentures. These will be sent back to the lab where our technician will create your trial denture.

Your third appointment

Once we’ve created your trial dentures, you can come for your next appointment where we’ll ensure they fit properly, feel comfortable and bite together correctly. If we need to make adjustments, we will do so before sending them back to the lab to create your beautiful, finished dentures.

Your fourth appointment

At your fourth appointment, your dentist will fit your dentures and then provide you with aftercare advice. You can now enjoy your brand-new smile.

*If you need immediate dentures, your denture will be fitted immediately after your extraction then you will need to return in 3-6 months so they can be adjusted.*

Feel like you need a whole new smile?

Full restoration with dentures

If the cost of dental implants puts them out of reach, but you are in need of a full mouth restoration, we also offer a treatment package which includes extractions and upper and lower dentures.

If you choose this route, all of your teeth will be expertly extracted and you will receive one set of temporary, placeholder dentures, which will be fitted immediately post extraction. Once your gums have healed, we will fit another set of dentures, which will be individually crafted to fit your mouth. The end result is a natural looking, removable full set of teeth with which you can eat, smile, and talk comfortably, without feeling self conscious.

After your initial consultation and scans, you’ll have around eight appointments to take impressions, extract your teeth, fit the temporary dentures, fit the new dentures, and any additional reviews or check ups. All appointments are included in the package price.

  • Extraction of as many teeth as required

  • Two sets of upper and lower dentures

  • One provided immediately after extractions and the second in three months

  • Relining as required for the first set of dentures, to provide a better fit after the initial healing phase – value £130

Your dentist will provide you with detailed information on how to take care of your dentures. This includes brushing twice per day, rinsing them after meals, removing them to sleep and having regular check-ups with your dentist.

Your dentures will last many years if you take care of them. Ask your dentist for advice on how to do this correctly.
3. Will dentures affect my speech?
At Casa Dental, our dentures are designed to be comfortable and entirely natural. However, some patients find they need time to get used to them.
