Visit Casa Dental in Derby for custom-made inlays or onlays that fix decay or damage and protect the strength of your teeth.
What are inlays and onlays?
When a filling isn’t enough to fix your tooth decay or damage and you’ve lost a significant amount of natural tooth, we may suggest that you choose a dental inlay or onlay.
Both provide a durable solution that works with your tooth’s natural structure so you can continue to smile with confidence.
Inlays
Dental inlays are similar to fillings. They help fix damaged areas at the top of your teeth and fit into the top of your teeth.
Onlays
Dental onlays are larger solutions that fix both the tops of your teeth and larger dental cavities and sit on top of your remaining tooth structure.
You can choose a handmade dental inlay or onlay made from porcelain, gold or composite to suit your personal tastes and according to your dental needs. Your friendly dentist at Casa Dental can provide professional advice. Speak to us today.
How are inlays and onlays done?
Before getting your dental inlays or onlays, we’ll invite you for an in-depth consultation to assess your needs and discuss your wishes. When you decide to go ahead, we’ll outline a treatment plan and invite you for your first treatment appointment.
In the first appointment, we’ll create an impression of your mouth, remove any decay and pop in a temporary filling, if necessary. We’ll also send the impression to our dental technicians who will prepare your custom-made dental inlay or onlay. This can take up to two weeks.
In the second appointment, your dentist will give you a local anaesthetic then remove the temporary filling and thoroughly clean your tooth. When this is complete, they will slot the inlay or onlay into place and when you’re entirely happy, will permanently fix it into place.
