What are white tooth fillings?

If your tooth is decayed or broken, you may need to have a filling to protect it from further damage and ensure you can eat as normal.

While traditional grey amalgam fillings are cost-effective, they are visible when you smile.

Choose white fillings (composite) at Casa Dental and you’ll fix your tooth, protect its structure and no one will ever know it’s there. Our superior white fillings are made of glass particles suspended in a resin matrix and available in several shades to blend perfectly with your natural teeth.

What happens when you get a filling?

Getting a white filling is exactly the same as getting a traditional grey amalgam filling.

First, you’ll be welcomed by our friendly receptionists at Casa Dental and then invited to the treatment room.

Your dentist will ask you a series of quick questions to assess your health and then give you a local anaesthetic to numb the area. Once this has taken effect, they will gently remove the decayed part of your tooth, carefully prepare the space then apply your composite filling.

1. Do fillings hurt?
No. When you come to Casa Dental, we’ll use a local anaesthetic before you receive your filling. If you feel any discomfort afterwards, take over the counter painkillers such as paracetamol or ibuprofen. This should last just a day or two.
2. Will my fillings be visible?
If you choose our handcrafted white fillings (composite), no one will notice that you have a filling. Traditional grey amalgam fillings are visible.
3. Should I replace my traditional grey fillings?
You can improve the appearance of your smile by replacing your traditional grey fillings with white composite fillings. Ask us for more information.
4. How long does it take to get a filling?
Usually, you can get your white filling within an hour. If you just need one small filling and it’s in a part of your mouth that is easy to reach, you’ll be in and out much more quickly.
